The decision to make a change most often requires a catalyst or a compelling event. Sometimes that impetus is industry specific or the increased use of multiple cloud services within your organization. Sometimes it’s a catastrophic outage, which leads to a loss in revenue. Other times, it’s a global shift in how companies manage their business, including the need to accommodate flexible work arrangements without warning. IT automation can help give organizations the ability to do more with less, while scaling

Automation for dummies... and geniuses, and everyone else (11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ET)
Damien Eversmann, Delivery Strategist for Higher Education, Red Hat
Automation isn’t out to take your job… or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s also not a tool reserved for the IT elites and other geniuses in our field. Automation is about helping everyone do their jobs more effectively and efficiently by removing the toil and drudgery of monotonous, day-to-day tasks and empowering employees to focus on more challenging and rewarding tasks. It also removes the error-prone nature of repetitive tasks often found in IT. What’s more, enterprise automation sets its sights higher. It’s about helping the enterprise function in a more orderly and streamlined fashion. Enterprise automation can connect silos and bridge organizations. In the end, automation benefits dummies to geniuses, entry-levels to old pros, admins to architects, and everyone in between. In this talk, we’ll focus on how a strategy and culture of enterprise automation supported with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform can lead to faster, more reliable outcomes in IT while fostering greater employee satisfaction and cross-team collaboration.
Making Network Operations Easier with Ansible (12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. ET)
Gerald Dykeman, Staff Specialist Solution Architect, Red Hat
One of Ansible's strengths is its ability to gather state information from remote devices. However, depending on the platform, the data gathered may be text-based rather than structured. In this talk, we’ll take a look at the Ansible Utils collection for gathering structured data from remote devices and see how we can use that information to ensure compliant states.
Ansible & ServiceNow: IT services automation (1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. ET)
Matthew Fernandez, Senior Specialist Solution Architect, Red Hat
ServiceNow is the industry standard for IT service management. Ansible is the lingua franca of IT automation. With the release of the ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM) content collection and Ansible spoke integration, we are able to build processes within ServiceNow that use Ansible to orchestrate state. In this demonstration, we’ll illustrate the benefits of self-service IT automation to provision cross-cloud resources as easily as online shopping while adhering to the processes and approvals necessary in a modern IT organization.
Stop clicking—and automate using Ansible (2:15 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET)
Kyle Rafaels, Consultant, Red Hat; Ethan Smith, Senior Consultant, Red Hat
How many hours are being wasted in the AWS console, provisioning your VMs again and again? Did that last one get done right? Does Kyle provision the same way as Ethan? With the increased demand to deploy applications quickly and respond to customer demands, there is an overwhelming need to manage and deploy infrastructure in a quick and consistent fashion.
In this talk, we’ll discuss how engineers can use Ansible to build infrastructure and automate general maintenance and Day 2 operations traditionally performed manually. Reflecting on our experiences in deploying a customer environment of ~500 cloud instances in a fully automated fashion, we’ll discuss our solutions for deploying and testing the latest commits of middleware applications, patching systems, managing DNS and authentication—all without visiting the AWS console.
