The Red Hat Academy program is based on the premise that learning involves not just thinking, but doing. With the launch of Red Hat Preliminary Exams, students will be able to gauge their learning and progress in Red Hat Technologies as they continue along their educational journey towards technical proficiency. Since 2016, the Red Hat Academy program has been providing our industry-leading curriculum to students across the globe in hopes to empower students to establish a promising career within open source and Red Hat Technologies. We believe that the lasting impact we make on students lies central to the success of the RHA Program and want to use this opportunity to hear your stories of how the RHA program has made a difference in your journey.

WHAT ARE RED HAT PRELIMINARY EXAMS?
Red Hat Preliminary Exams validate in-demand, foundational skills and knowledge in some of today’s most important technologies - your time, and your way. Preliminary Exams are a great way for students to show future employers their progress towards attaining the skills and knowledge associated with a certification.
Duration:1 hour
Format: Exams can be taken from your own device anywhere that has a reliable broadband internet access (wired LAN recommend).
Proctoring: You must present a government-issued photo ID at the beginning of the exam and will be selectively proctored throughout.
After passing, you'll receive: A Red Hat Certification ID that proves to prospective employers that you passed the exam. This ID can be used in the future as you earn Red Hat Certifications.


HOW TO ENTER: 
Participants must complete all required fields in the Contest Submission Form.

Submission must include a personal testimonial describing how the Red Hat Academy Program has positively impacted your educational experience.

Submissions will be reviewed by the Red Hat Academy Team and awarded Recipients will be selected based upon received content.

***Up to 200 hundred potential Recipients will be selected. Limit 1 entry per individual.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 
Submission entry should provide a detailed testimonial of how the Red Hat Academy program has made a difference in your academic experience and/or future career. The format should be of your choosing (essay, video, powerpoint, voiceover, etc.) however, the quality and detail of content will be highly regarded in awarded Recipients. Suggested topics, but not limited to:

  • The quality and degree the program has impacted your future career (internship or job attainment)

  • The social impact the program has on your community, family, and/or peers

  • How the program has enhanced your ability to influence fellow students to pursue open source or Red Hat Technologies

  • How the program has created opportunities or opened doors throughout your education

  • How the program has driven your interest in Container and Cloud Computing

Eligibility. To be eligible, Participant must be an enrolled student at an approved Partner Institution at the time of submission; a legal resident of Canada (excluding Quebec) or the United States, holding a valid US Student Visa, or holding a valid Canadian Study Permit; and above the age of majority in your country, province and/or state of legal residence at the time of entry. Minors must have consent of a parent or legal guardian. You must have access to the Internet and a valid email address to enter the Contest. Government employees and contractors are not eligible to enter.
How to Enter. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO WIN. The Contest begins on April 20, 2020 at 9:01 a.m. EDT and ends on July 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT (“Term”). To enter the Contest, Participants must complete all required fields on the Submission form as well as provide an essay, voiceover, or video testimonial sharing the impact the RHA program has made in their educational experience. Entry is limited to one per individual. Any attempt to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different accounts, identities, registrations, logins, or any other method will void your eligibility. Upon completion of Submission Form, entry will be reviewed by the Red Hat Academy Team. For entry to be considered eligible, Submission must be completed and received by July 15, 2020. Reviewal process by the Red Hat Academy Team may take up to two (4) weeks upon receipt.
Privacy. To enter, you must provide personal information in order for Sponsor to process the Nomination. Your personal information will be transferred to servers located in the U.S. By registering for the Contest, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to servers in the U.S. Further, you agree to be bound by Sponsor's privacy policy and you understand that your personal information will be used in accordance with this policy.
 Use of Red Hat Software.Any use of Red Hat Software is subject to Red Hat’s standard agreements including the Enterprise Agreement set forth at www.redhat.com/licenses, the applicable Red Hat End User Agreement(s) set forth at www.redhat.com/licenses/eulas and/or any other mutually signed written agreement with Red Hat as applicable.
Judging. Submissions must include all requested information, as well as a detailed account of how the Red Hat Academy program has positively impacted your educational experience. Essays must consist of at least three hundred (300) words. PowerPoints must include accompanied voiceover presentation. Videos must consist of at least one (1) minute of content. Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria in stated order of importance (1) The degree and quality of impact the program has had on your future career (2) The program’s ability to enable you to influence other students to pursue Red Hat Technologies  (3) How the program has provided a social impact on your community, family, and/or peers (4) How the program has created opportunity or opened doors for you throughout your education. In the event that more than two hundred (200) Participants submit eligible Entries, awarded Recipients will be selected based on (1) number of entries received from enrolled institution, (2) the earliest date Submission is received. All Recipients will be announced and notified by email at, or by, August 1, 2020.
Award. Up to two hundred (200) Recipients will be chosen, rolling throughout the term as submissions are reviewed, to receive a 100% discounted Preliminary Exam Voucher for PE124. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Red Hat Preliminary Exams validate in-demand, foundational skills and knowledge in some of today’s most important technologies showing progress towards attaining the skills and knowledge associated with a certification. The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of PE124 is 160 USD. Prize is not redeemable for cash and is awarded without warranty of any kind from Sponsor, express or implied, without limitation, except where this would be contrary to federal, state, provincial, or local laws or regulations. Awarded Recipients will receive email documentation on how to redeem Preliminary Exam Voucher. Access to redeeming Preliminary Exam Voucher will be granted through unique Red Hat User account. Within two (2) days of email notification, the Recipient will attain PE124 Exam Voucher in their user account. Exam Voucher can be redeemed and used to schedule PE124 exam. Exam must be scheduled and taken within one calendar year or receipt. Exams must be scheduled at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. No substitution, cash substitution, or assignment or transfer of the Exam Voucher is permitted. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the skill of the Contestants.
Condition of Participation. By entering the Promotion, Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Any attempt to deliberately damage the content or operation of this Promotion is unlawful and subject to legal action by Sponsor or its agents. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Promotion as solely determined by Sponsor. Prize Winners may be asked to participate in publicity. Except where prohibited by law, a Winner’s acceptance of a Prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use such Winner’s name, address (city and state only), statements, photograph, voice and/or likeness for any advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Promotion, in any media now known or hereafter devised, without further notice, compensation, consideration, review or consent and without regard to moral rights.
Compromise of Promotion. In the event the Promotion is not capable of running as planned as the result of bugs, virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering, technical failures, fraud, or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor that corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper operation of the Promotion, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, suspend, modify or terminate the Promotion. Should the Promotion be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award Prizes based on the Entries received before the termination date.
Release of Liability. By participating, Participant release Sponsor, its affiliates, parent, and subsidiary companies, its employees, agents and officers, advertising and promotion agencies, licensees, as well as all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from the Contest and the awarding and use of the prize, or in connection with the use, modification, or publication of the Entry. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms.
Governing Law. This contest is subject to all US federal, state and local laws. This Contest and Official Rules are governed and interpreted by the laws of the US, without regard to its conflict of law.
Offical Rules/Winners. The Official Rules, the names of the Winners and the success stories created by the Sponsor will be posted in the Red Hat Learning Community after the date of the relevant Event.
