Microshift on Edge for Smart Metering use-case

ON - DEMAND

OVERVIEW

Deploying a large number of sensors at the edge becomes easier and easier, but maintaining them in operational condition, including upgrades, is a real challenge. During this session we will use a reduced edge architecture model with real sensors to show how to deploy and maintain an edge solution using RHEL for Edge, Microshift and Ansible.

Maintaining the ability to remote-control all the assets become a challenge, especially if the solution scales up to hundreds or thousands of devices. A future proof Edge solution, its ROI and value will be determined by the ability to control it and upgrade/fix the devices. This applies to any Edge use case: remote metering, smart cities, digital factories, and retail.

In this particular demo we will demonstrate the value proposition of an edge deployment with a connected vehicle that is carrying frozen goods in difficult conditions. We will prove how Red Hat technology can help to autonomously take decisions at multiple levels for mitigating adverse events.

This scenario is an edge-variant of the Industry Edge Validated Pattern.
