Kubernetes Native Java for Spring Developer

As interest grows in microservices and containers, Java developers have struggled to make applications smaller and faster to meet today’s demands and requirements. In the modern computing environment, applications must respond to requests quickly and efficiently, be suitable for running in volatile environments such as virtual machines or containers, and support rapid development. Size and boot time are major burdens for Java Developers to deploy their applications to Kubernetes.

This workshop will walk you through the process on how to transform the same old springboot application into Kubernetes Native Application with amazing fast boot time, small memory footprint and also focus on developer joy with Quarkus!

Control Cloud Native Apps with Service Mesh

For scalability and fault tolerance, most cloud-based applications are designed using microservices and dependencies. A service mesh is an infrastructure layer that connects microservices working together in a shared-services architecture. OpenShift Service Mesh is based on Istio and provides similar mechanisms for securing, controlling, and routing microservices. It also offers additional features and ease of installation.

This module shows how developers can use the OpenShift Service Mesh to provide powerful visualization and control over their distributed microservice applications.

Note: For an optimized experience, we recommend you bring along your personal laptop instead of your work laptop, as there may be unforeseen firewall restrictions on your work laptop. An installed web browser is all that is needed, preferably Google Chrome.
