Join us for a hands-on experience for you to work directly with our Red Hat® and Microsoft experts to try Azure Red Hat OpenShift® without commitment. Ask questions, follow along with the demo and create your project in the console to get a feel for how Azure Red Hat OpenShift will work for your team and workloads.

What to expect: During this workshop, we will take you through two labs to help you understand some of the concepts of deploying and securing container based applications on top of Azure Red Hat OpenShift. In particular, you will: 

  • Creating a project on the Azure Red Hat OpenShift web console
  • Deploying a MongoDB container that uses Azure disks for persistent storage
  • Restoring data into the MongoDB container by executing commands on the pod
  • Deploying a Node.js API and front end app from GitHub using Source-To-Image (S2I)
  • Exposing the web application front end using OpenShift routes
  • Creating a network policy to control communication between the different tiers in the application

Prerequisites:

  • Access to an Azure subscription and Azure Red Hat OpenShift environment which will be provided during the lab. You will receive access at the beginning of the workshop.
  • A personal GitHub account. You can sign up for free here.
  • Knowledge of container fundamentals
