A day in the life: What it takes to be a Site Reliability Engineer

August 3, 2022 | 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (GMT-04:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

OVERVIEW

A site reliability engineering (SRE) team uses software as a tool to manage systems, solve problems, and automate tasks at scale. SRE applies software engineering principles to the operationalization of IT systems with the ultimate goal of ensuring reliability of applications for end users. It involves teams made up of different personas, including software engineers and operations engineers, working together to solve complex problems within IT systems.

In this webinar, we'll cover:

  • Setting the stage of SRE. (What is it? How is it different?)
  • A day in the life of a Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Tools for the trade (How ServiceNow is using Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform as a service, and observability and monitoring tools).
  • Advanced SRE implementation—chaos engineering at ServiceNow.
  • Transition to our container platform and SRE.
  • The impact of Red Hat Training and Certification on the 2022 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year in his role as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer.

As digital spaces evolve and technologies advance, it can be difficult to navigate the management of complex IT systems and determine how to manage your resources. During this webinar, the 2022 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year, Neil D’Souza, a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at ServiceNow who is also a Red Hat Certified Architect, will discuss his experience with chaos engineering, monitoring, and Automation-as-a-Service (AaaS) at ServiceNow.
