The ransomware threat to Linux and cloud systems in 2022

Thursday, 16 June 2022 | 11:00am to 12:00pm AEST

OVERVIEW

In 2021, cybersecurity authorities across the globe observed an increase in sophisticated, high-impact ransomware incidents against critical infrastructure organisations. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) observed continued ransomware targeting of Australian critical infrastructure entities, including healthcare, financial services, and energy sectors, and observed a 15-percent increase in ransomware cybercrime reports in the 2020-2021 financial year.

Ransomware threat actors are continuing to evolve their tactics, techniques and procedures in 2022, looking to bring double extortion techniques and ransomware-as-a-service models to Linux and cloud systems. Join Red Hat's Shane Boulden for a look at ransomware and the threat to Linux and cloud systems in 2022, and how organisations can use security automation and DevSecOps workflows to help mitigate the risk to systems.

In this session we'll provide:

  • An overview of ransomware threats to Linux and cloud systems
  • Strategies to mitigate ransomware and malware execution
  • A security automation workflow to manage system security at scale

Who should attend?

  • Cloud architects interested in securing Linux and cloud infrastructure
  • DevSecOps architects and practitioners looking to automate security practices and processes
  • Anyone interested in security automation
