For our upcoming event we have two exciting sessions scheduled: Red Hat OpenShift v4 Update and Crunchy PostgreSQL OpenShift Operator.

Red Hat OpenShift v4 Update

Orchestrating containers at scale can be challenging. OpenShift, the leading hybrid cloud Kubernetes platform, simplifies this process and empowers developers to innovate and ship enterprise grade applications quickly and easily. There are many enhancements available in OpenShift v4 that build on the stability, usability and scalability of OpenShift v3. We will provide an overview of recently announced updates and new features available in OpenShift v4.

Presenter: Praveen Rajagopalan
Praveen Rajagopalan is a Senior Solutions Architect at Red Hat specializing in OpenShift and Kubernetes. He has over 14 years of industry experience helping customers across different domains with DevOps transformation and Cloud adoption and migration. All time outside of work is devoted entirely to his family and dotes on his only daughter.

Crunchy PostgreSQL OpenShift Operator

Synopsis: The maturation of containerization platforms has changed how people think about creating development environments and has eliminated many inefficiencies for deploying applications. These concepts and technologies have made its way into the PostgreSQL ecosystem as well, and open source projects like the Crunchy PostgreSQL Operator now let teams to run their own “database-as-a-service” on the infrastructure of their choosing.
In this talk, which centers around demos, we will see how you can get PostgreSQL up and running in a containerized environment with some advanced sidecars in only a few steps! We will then build out a larger production environment on OpenShift with the Crunchy PostgreSQL Operator and see how it can scale to help you manage thousands of databases, effectively letting you run our own database-as-a-service!

Presenter: Jonathan S. Katz

Jonathan S. Katz is the Director of Customer Success & Communications at Crunchy Data, the leading provider of trusted open source PostgreSQL technology, support, and training. Jonathan is also responsible for the advocacy efforts of the PostgreSQL Global Development Group and is a board member of the nonprofit United States PostgreSQL Association. Jonathan enjoys building applications with PostgreSQL and revels in showing off all of the wonderful features of PostgreSQL. Jonathan graduated from Tufts University with a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Mathematics.

If time permits, we'll also include a lightning talk on what's new in RHEL 8.
