Open Innovation Labs Overview - Bill Hirsch
Innovation is a byproduct of everything that Red Hat does—our open source communities accept no less. Now more than ever, the same principles that drove the success of open source software are showing up in how enterprises deliver software. To move to the cloud, business leaders can no longer rely solely on tools; they have to look at how the people in their organization are using those tools.
Red Hat® Open Innovation Labs is an immersive teaming residency that arms customers with the skills, tools, and processes to deliver better software, more quickly, to meet the demands of today’s market. Whether it’s co-creating a disruptive product, accelerating cultural transformation in the enterprise, or discovering what’s possible with a suite of proven and open tools and methods, Open Innovation Labs is designed to jump-start organizations’ most innovative ideas.

Emerging Technology Overview and Roadmap - Frank Dimuzio
Digital transformation is a core objective for most of Red Hat’s State and Local agencies around the country and at the heart of this transformation are emerging markets, processes, and technologies. At Red Hat, we have a strong focus on being a leader in the emerging technology market place by being the catalyst and top contributor behind some of the most transformative areas including containerization, automation, and hybrid cloud. In this session, we will take a look at Red Hat’s vision for emerging technology in state government and share our initiatives and roadmap for the future.

Modern App Dev / Hybrid Cloud - Brian Payton and Frank DiMuzio
What makes a modern application? In part, it is the application’s functionality and user experience. But another component is whether the application is developed using modern infrastructure, processes, and resources. During this session, we’ll discuss the latest industry trends in enterprise application development and then put it into practice and show how to use a microservices architecture to go from source code to production in minutes.
Network and Security Automation - Ryan Kraus and Ajay Chenampara
Ansible’s simple automation framework means that previously isolated network administrators can speak the same language of automation as the rest of the IT organization, extending the capabilities of Ansible to include native support for both legacy and open network infrastructure devices.
In this session, we’ll walk through a demonstration highlighting the automation of Day-2 operations, across a multi-vendor network. We’ll address practices and patterns around “Infrastructure as Code” and share industry practices through some common use-cases.
Ansible also allows you to simply define your systems for security. Ansible’s easily understood Playbook syntax allows you to secure any part of your system, whether it’s setting firewall rules, locking down users and groups, or applying custom security policies.
