Topic: Modernizing Existing Applications to a Container Platform
Date: 14 June 2022, Tuesday 10:00am - 1:00pm SGT
Application modernization is a process that improves software delivery performance for a business by updating—rather than replacing—older legacy software systems. For many organizations, this involves replatforming existing legacy workloads onto a modern cloud platform based on Kubernetes, and breaking monolithic applications into smaller pieces like microservices.
This workshop guides developers on how to get started on their cloud-native journey, starting with monolithic application migration to a modern container platform using OpenShift®, and modernizing applications using microservices and Red Hat® Runtimes.
Topic: Advanced Cloud Native Architectures with Event-Driven Serverless
Date: 16 June 2022, Thursday 10:00am - 1:00pm SGT
Serverless is a deployment model that allows you to build and run applications without requiring deep insight into the underlying infrastructure. The idea is that the platform is ubiquitous and simply works. Developers can focus on writing code and determining where it needs to run without worrying about the infrastructure.
This workshop will show how developers can begin their event-driven journey by implementing a subset of a microservices application using an end-to-end (data > application > user) event-driven architecture. The workshop will introduce serverless design into the architecture, allowing applications to dynamically scale up and down based on changing demand.
