Who is this workshop best for?

This workshop is intended as an introductory course for Ansible® Network Automation. For more in-depth training please refer to Red Hat® Training Ansible for Network Automation. The intended audience is someone who has limited or no exposure to writing Ansible Playbooks or using Ansible Automation. This workshop will cover common network scenarios and topics and is best suited for network engineers or folks interested in network automation.

Description

The Ansible Network Automation Workshop is a one-day, hands-on workshop covering Ansible Automation with respect to routers and switches. You’ll learn how to pull facts from devices, build templated network configurations, and apply these concepts at scale with Ansible automation controller. You’ll put it all together by exploring the controller’s job templates, surveys, access controls and more.

Note: In this workshop, attendees will be managing network devices, such as Cisco routers.

MORNING SESSIONS (8:30 AM - 11:30 AM) 

  • Intro: What is Ansible Automation
  • How Ansible works for network automation
  • Execute your first network automation playbook
  • Use Ansible facts on network devices
  • Ansible Network Resource Modules
  • Lunch (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

AFTERNOON SESSIONS (12:30 PM - 3:30 PM)

  • Explore the Automation controller environment
  • Create an Automation controller job template
  • Create an Automation controller Survey
  • Using the Role Based Access Control (RBAC) feature
  • Create an Automation controller Workflow

Skills Gained

Red Hat Ansible Engine

  • Basic understanding of what Ansible is and how it works with networking devices
  • Running ad-hoc Ansible commands from a command line
  • Building and execution of playbooks to accomplish basic router connectivity

Who Can Benefit

This workshop is geared toward network operators, network engineers, cloud administrators, DevOps engineers, security professionals and anyone interested in network automation.

Requirements for Attendees

  • An internet connection is required. Attendees must come with a laptop with admin rights and the ability to SSH to a lab environment hosted in a public cloud.
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of using SSH and command line shell (BASH) as well as a conceptual understanding of linux system administration (how to use simple commands like cd, ls, mv, mkdir, etc).
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of at least one Linux text editor (nano, pico, vi/vim, zile, emacs) with which to write Ansible playbooks.
