Containers and Cloud-Native Workshop

The Containers & Cloud-Native Roadshow is a unique, virtual hands-on experience for building, deploying, and managing containerized cloud-native applications using industry-standard open source technologies. The focus is on educating and enabling our channel partners on how to run this workshop for their customers. Attendees will be guided on how to set up the infrastructure for delivering the workshop, as well as experience how the workshop should be delivered. In addition, attendees will learn how Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Red Hat Runtimes change the way mission-critical applications are run.

Ops track:

  • Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage fundamentals
  • Introduction to Red Hat OpenShift platform management
  • Introduction to application management on Red Hat OpenShift
  • Application storage management with OpenShift Container Storage

Dev track:

  • Cloud-native app development with Red Hat Runtimes
  • Implementing continuous delivery and monitoring of advanced cloud-native services
  • Automating Kubernetes application operations with DevOps and OpenShift
  • Cloud-native middleware applications services and service mesh

Know before you go:

Ops track:

Participants should have a systems administration/storage/operations focus, with the following suggested tools and/or skills:

  • Competency on the Linux command line
  • A general/high-level understanding of Linux containers (e.g., Docker, CRI-O, etc.)
  • A general/high-level understanding of authentication (e.g., LDAP/AD)
  • A laptop computer running Windows, MacOS, or Linux with the Firefox or Chrome web browser

Dev track:

Participants are expected to be familiar with general application development concepts and have basic skills with the following:

  • JavaTM programming
  • Apache Maven build tool
  • Linux command line and OpenShift command line
  • Linux containers and Docker
  • Open source monitoring/tracing tools (e.g., Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Entry- level Kubernetes concepts
  • Entry- level Service Mesh (e.g., Istio) concepts
