This workshop is ideal for developers, system administrators, and architects with a technical background interested in learning how the tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 enable faster delivery of workloads, with less effort.
Requirements
Lab materials will be provided.
Attendees should have a basic understanding of working with Linux systems and must bring a laptop with Chrome 73+, Firefox 60+, Edge 40+, or Safari 12+ installed. There is no student prep work required prior to the workshop.

SESSION 1: Red Hat Enterprise Linux security technologies Date: November 17, 2021 Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PT In this workshop you will learn about two, of the many, security-related features included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Terminal Session Recording and System-wide Cryptography Policy. Both of these features were introduced in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and offer new capabilities to system administrators for auditing and configuring the encryption cyphers offered to applications running on the machine.

SESSION 2: Building and deploying containers with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Container Tools Date: December 1, 2021 Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PT In this workshop you will learn about building applications into container images and deploying them on Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems. This lab uses the native Red Hat Enterprise Linux Container Tools, podman and buildah to both build a new container from scratch and from the Red Hat Universal Base image (UBI). Additionally, this workshop covers building containers which includes custom developed content.

SESSION 3: New technologies for system and software management for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Date: December 8, 2021 Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PT In this workshop, attendees will learn about software and system management technologies included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Attendees will manage multiple versions of applications & language runtimes with Application Streams. You will apply Live Kernel Patches topatch security vulnerabilities in a running kernel without needing to reboot the target system. This allows organizations to continue operations without an unplanned or emergency maintenance event while at the same time remediating critical and important security vulnerabilities on their systems. You will discover and remediate issues on a running system by utilizing the Red Hat Insights - Advisor service. This advice is driven by years of Red Hat expertise in supporting Enterprise customers. You will also be introduced to new tools in system performance to help identify issues and gather data to determine what processes are doing; one of the most often cited as difficult and important tasks administrators perform on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

SESSION 4: Using administration tools for managing systems and system images Date: December 15, 2021 Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. PT This workshop uses the Web Console to accomplish two tasks critical to systems administration. Applying updates to machines and building template images to deploy on virtualization and cloud platforms. Even for seasoned administrators, using specialized applications for systems administration and management can simplify their tasks resulting in more efficiency at work.
