Who is this workshop best for?

This workshop is intended as an introductory course for Ansible® Smart Management Automation. The intended audience is someone who would like to learn about using Ansible Automation to configure Red Hat® Ansible Tower, Red Hat Satellite, as well as the administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux® and CentOS nodes. This workshop will cover common software development lifecycle scenarios and topics and is best suited for systems administrators or folks interested in automated software lifecycles.

Description

The Ansible Smart Management Workshop is a half-day, hands-on workshop covering Ansible Automation with respect to Red Hat Ansible Tower, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS Linux . Attendees will learn how to use Ansible to automate configuration of Ansible Tower and Satellite, and acquire the skills needed to implement Ansible Automation at their organizations.

Red Hat Satellite

  • Running ad-hoc Ansible commands from a command line
  • Utilizing Ansible automation for Lifecycle Environment/Content View management 
  • Use Case: Automated system patching/upgrades
  • Use Case: Automated OPENSCAP scans and report generation
  • Use Case: Automated CentOS to RHEL migrations
  • Use Case: Infrastructure as Code, Tower configuring Satellite
  • Example roles provided: Making playbooks reusable and platform agnostic

Who can benefit

This workshop is geared toward systems administrators, cloud administrators, DevOps engineers, security professionals and anyone interested in multi-system automation.

Requirements for Attendees

  • An internet connection is required. Attendees must come with a laptop with admin rights. The ability to SSH to a lab environment hosted in a public cloud is optional.
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of using SSH and command line shell (BASH) as well as a conceptual understanding of linux system administration (how to use simple commands like cd, ls, mv, mkdir, etc).
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of at least one Linux text editor (nano, pico, vi/vim, zile, emacs) with which to write Ansible playbooks.
