The demand for services rose dramatically in several sectors due to the impact of COVID. For example, demand for cloud connectivity skyrocketed by 1,000% in many regions, driven by usage of collaboration and streaming media (source: COVID-19 Impact on the Worldwide Telecommunications Networks Research, May 2020). Communications SPs responded quickly to increased demand from cloud providers for significant bandwidth upgrades. They provided emergency provisioning of 10Gb and 100Gb circuits to facilitate access to cloud platforms. These deployments were completed in hours or days rather than the normal provisioning of weeks or months.

Carrie MacGillivray

Carrie MacGillivray is Group Vice President and General Manager responsible for IDC's Worldwide Telecom, Mobility, and IoT research. Carrie is responsible for leading a team of analysts who cover all elements of the telecom services and mobility markets to develop insightful research and market forecasts. Along with her team, she is responsible for assessing the supply and demand elements at play as organizations look for pervasive connectivity in their workforce, connected things, and processes.

Meg Foley

Meg Foley is a Senior Principal Marketing Leader for Application Services Solutions at Red Hat. In this role, she is responsible for defining, researching, and advising customers on the fast-evolving Digital Transformation and Customer Experience technologies and multi-product solutions.

Satish Kale

With 20 years of IT experience, of which 13+ years in Red Hat, Satish Kale heads the Specialist Solutions Architect team for Emerging Technologies for North America Telecom team. He primarily helps customers and partners build modern, future-ready solutions by being a Trusted advisor, leader and collaborator. He is also a member of Business Automation Advocacy group and Global Telecom Architecture council for Red Hat. Satish's key area of focus is - Application development, Integration, Business Automation, Intelligent solutions (rules engines), Messaging, Microservices, API Management, Cloud and Containers.
