BeLux Tech Month

February 11, 20219:00 AM - 11:00 AM (GMT+02:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris

Each year, we were able to catch up with you during our Tech Day. Have a drink, enjoy some good food and share loads of knowledge. Unfortunately, this year we can only offer you the knowledge-part (for now) and hope to make the rest up to you very soon.

We have so much we want to share with you. So, in order to make it 'easy digestible', we're slicing up our Tech Day into bite size chunks over the period of 1 month. You can find the detailed agenda below.

We look forward to seeing you during one - or even better - all of the sessions below.
To make it as easy as possible for you, we've created 1 registration form and just 1 link to enter all the sessions.
However, please indicate in the form which sessions you're interested in following so we know how many guests we may welcome.

Presentations of past Tech Month sessions:

Ansible Security Automation

Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes

Time

Session

10:00 - 10:45Ansible Security Automation : Update & DEMO
The Red Hat BeLux Solution Architect Team (Dieter, Edward, Kevin, Pieter)
In today’s complex IT environments, security is paramount - security of your systems, security of your data, security of your customer’s data. Not only must you be able to define what it means for your systems to be secure, you need to be able to simply apply that security, constantly monitor your systems to ensure they remain compliant with that security.
Moving to using automation as part of your IT practices is a necessary first step for security. The proper automation tooling allows you to apply the security you need in a simple, consistent, manner, allowing you to concentrate on other things. Ansible can help Security teams stitch together the numerous security solutions and tools that are already in their IT environment for a more effective cyber-defense.
10:45 - 11:00Break / Q&A
11:00 - 11:45Federated Containers with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (RHACM)
The Red Hat BeLux Solution Architect Team (Dieter, Edward, Kevin, Pieter)
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes controls clusters and applications from a single console, with built-in security policies. Extend the value of Red Hat OpenShift by deploying apps, managing multiple clusters, and enforcing policies across multiple clusters at scale.
During this session we will give an overview of the capabilities of ACM, how it can tie in to GitOps practices and Ansible Automation, and we'll do a live demo where we'll deploy and import new clusters and configure policies and deploy applications across multiple clusters at once.

Time

Session

10:00 - 11:00Digital Transformation: Applying Cloud Native patterns in your organization
Filip Lenaerts, Businessline manager Open Source & Platform, Devoteam
Focus on which of the CN patterns on the four levels (business, organization, dev, ops) are applicable for your organization and how to apply them using RH technology.
11:00 - 12:00GitOps with OpenShift and ARO: overview and sharing experiences from the field
Filip Lenaerts, Businessline manager Open Source & Platform, Devoteam
We implemented GitOps with both OpenShift and ARO at customers and want to show how and moreover why it was implemented. The target is to show how customer can benefit from the GitOps approach as opposed to traditional operations.

Time

Session

09:00 - 09:45“We have been hacked!”; mitigation for legacy and cloud native organization based on a real life experience.
Romuald Vandepoel, Platform & Cloud Architect
With the acceleration of digital transformation in an ever changing world, more than ever, Organizations are speeding up the build of flexible and collaborative environments to ease society interactions and provide all the necessary services in a digital fashion.
This opens more “opportunities” for security breaches leading to scenarios like ransomware up to hijacking compute resources for mining electronic currencies.
Through a real life experience of “We have been hacked!”, we will demonstrate how to mitigate security threats from a legacy infrastructure perspective and what OpenShift provides us with to reduce potential security risks.
09:45 - 10:00Break
10:00 - 11:30Applying DevSecOps throughout your OpenShift environment
The Red Hat BeLux Solution Architect Team (Dieter, Edward, Kevin, Pieter)
DevSecOps means thinking about application and infrastructure security from the start. It also means automating some security gates to keep the DevOps workflow from slowing down. Whether you call it "DevOps" or "DevSecOps," it has always been ideal to include security as an integral part of the entire app life cycle. DevSecOps is about built-in security, not security that functions as a perimeter around apps and data. If security remains at the end of the development pipeline, organizations adopting DevOps can find themselves back to the long development cycles they were trying to avoid in the first place.

We'll demonstrate some best practices, how to configure your system, tools and of course, how Red Hat is the perfect partner in your journey to better security.
Detailed agenda:
  • Intro to DevSecOps
  • Securing your automation
  • Securing your OCP cluster
  • Securing your development
  • Shift Left & Fail Fast CI/CD + Demo

Time

Session

09:00 - 10:00Agile Integration: Business overview & DEMO
Didier Clabaut, Integration Architect, Integration Designers
The first part of the presentation will discuss from a business point of view the integration challenges in a modern IT landscape. This is followed by a demo on the flexibility, user-friendly and maintenance-friendly nature of Red Hat Agile Integration.
11:00 - 11:30Labs Explanation
11:30 - 13:30Agile Integration Suite Hands-On-Lab
Didier Clabaut, Integration Architect, Integration Designers
The hands-on workshop will guide participants through the Red Hat Agile Integration suite. Using a contract-first approach, from developing an integration service to exposing it as a fully managed and monitored API, you will modernize legacy services and expose new data sources. You can take this lab at your own pace. The estimated time spend on this is 2 hours.
