Welcome to the first, virtual hands-on OpenShift Developer Roadshow!

Part 4 - Jan 14: Advanced Cloud Native with Event-Driven Serverless
This module shows how developers can begin their event-driven journey by implementing a subset of a microservices application using and end-to-end (data > application > user) event-driven architecture. The module also introduces serverless design into the architecture, allowing applications to dynamically scale up and down based on changing demand.

Business Challenges:
  • Staying competitive by meeting modern customer expectations of highly responsive, always-on services
  • Reducing cloud deployment costs by efficient deployment of serverless architectures that can scale up and down based on changing demand
Developer/IT Challenges:
  • General impedance mismatch of deploying traditional, inefficient Java stacks to efficient, lightweight containers
  • High cost of always-on, yet idle compute and networking resources
Goal of module:
This module introduces several products that have features targeted at distributed, event-driven architectures. Developers will add high performance, an event-driven caching system to an existing application, and evolve the application architecture to use event-driven messaging and serverless deployment techniques to achieve great application performance on the cloud.
