Virtual Event

Red Hat Day 2 Operations with Satellite 6, Ansible and Red Hat Insights for Windows Administrators

July 8, 20201:00 PM - 4:00 PM(GMT-04:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

You are invited to the upcoming, free Red Hat® Infrastructure for Windows Administrators workshop.

Many mid-market enterprises have deployed some Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers among a predominately Windows server infrastructure to support specific application needs. The team administering Red Hat servers may have widely varying Linux skills and there may not be a well defined process to manage the servers, leaving a company exposed to security and compliance risk.

The purpose of this workshop is to show Windows administrators how to effectively manage day 2 operations and compliance of RHEL servers using Red Hat management software. We will discuss the Red Hat equivalents to Windows day 2 operations, automation tools and best practices for integration. Attendees will have access to interactive labs that will cover how to configure Ansible®, Red Hat Insights, and Satellite 6 to effectively manage RHEL servers to perform inventory discovery, a wide variety of day 2 operations, enforcing configurations, and performing server self-healing. At the end of this workshop, a Windows administrator will understand how to effectively use all RHEL infrastructure software to harden and manage their RHEL footprint.

The day's hands-on workshops include:

  • What are the benefits of Ansible?
  • What are the benefits of Red Hat Insights?
  • What are the Red Hat equivalents to Windows server tools?
  • What are best practices to integrate Satellite 6, Ansible, and Red Hat Insights?
  • Installing Ansible
  • Accessing Red Hat Insights
  • Integrating Ansible, Satellite 6, and Red Hat Insights
  • Setting up Ansible playbooks and inventories
  • Configuring Day 2 Operations in Ansible
  • Configuring servers managed in Satellite 6 as inventory for Ansible
  • Configuring Ansible to create self-healing playbooks based on Red Hat insights

Who should attend: Windows Systems administrators managing RHEL servers in need of some best practices.

Prerequisites: Attendees should have basic knowledge of using SSH and command line shell (BASH) as well as a conceptual understanding of Linux system admin, Patching, and Automation concepts

Attendees must have a laptop with ADMIN rights and the ability to SSH to a lab environment hosted in a public cloud.
