Sessions

Getting the most of RHEL

What you'll learn:
When asked what the most important part of their job is, many linux administrators say it is dealing with application and system performance issues. They also say this is the most time-consuming and difficult part of their job. In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to the bcc-tools which provide real-time performance data which will help them identify issues on poorly performing applications or systems.  Attendees will also work with Red Hat Insights, a system analytics tool included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux which helps identify system and configuration issues, hopefully heading off issues before they impact the system and applications.

Topics covered:
  • Performance observability in practice with bcc-tools
  • Using Red Hat Insights
Who should attend:
This workshop is ideal for developers, system administrators, and architects with a technical background interested in learning how the tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux enable faster delivery of workloads, with less effort.

CentOS to RHEL using Automation

What you'll learn:
With the CentOS Linux 7 end of life approaching in June 2024, organizations currently face a choice. CentOS Linux users must migrate to a new operating system to continue receiving updates, patches, and new features. While implementing a new operating system may seem tedious, it also presents an opportunity to reassess your organization’s needs and choose a platform that will better support your business and IT strategies now and in the future.

This hands-on workshop introduces a comprehensive approach to automate conversions for CentOS to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The solution uses Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to execute conversions at enterprise scale across a large estate of CentOS hosts. We will demonstrate how to use this approach to perform conversions from CentOS 7 to RHEL 7. In this session, you will also learn how to automate snapshots and workload testing that can be used for issue revisions, as well as how this solution can be customized to meet the special requirements of your enterprise environment.

Join Red Hat to discuss and prepare for the upcoming CentOS Linux end of life, and get hands-on with a risk-mitigated way to do this for your organization.

Topics covered:
  • CentOS Linux end of life
  • Introduction to Convert2RHEL, Automation with Ansible and risk mitigated workflow
  • Hands-on lab
