CentOS to RHEL migration workshop
Join Red Hat for a hands-on technical workshop focussing on CentOS Migration.
CentOS Linux is now at its EOL. Migrating to an alternative Linux distribution before a new CVE is discovered is critical to avoid exposing your organization to unpatched vulnerabilities and potential security breaches.
CentOS Linux-based systems no longer receive common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) updates or patches, creating potential security and compliance risks.
- End of life for CentOS Linux 8 was Dec 31, 2021.
- End of life for CentOS Linux 7 was June 30, 2024.
To make it easier for organizations using CentOS Linux to migrate to a reliable, security-focused, and supported OS with a dependable life cycle, we created new offerings that provide low-cost or no-cost access to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Convert2RHEL is a no-cost, fully supported migration tool that simplifies the migration process while maintaining existing customizations, configurations, and preferences. It’s an automated way to convert to Red Hat Enterprise Linux — instead of manually redeploying all your workloads.
Join Red Hat to discuss and prepare for the upcoming CentOS Linux end of life, and get hands-on with the Convert2RHEL tool.
Topics covered:
- CentOS Linux end of life
- Introduction to Convert2RHEL and demo
- Convert2RHEL hands-on lab
RHEL in the Cloud Workshop
Join Red Hat for a hands-on look at running Red Hat Enterprise Linux on any supported cloud. We will cover cloud basics and dive deeper into topics to help prepare on-premises administrators for Red Hat Enterprise Linux on a public cloud provider.
What you'll learn
Bring your own Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription vs. pay-as-you-go: Should you bring your own subscription when moving to the cloud or use a pay-as-you-go model? We will talk through the requirements, benefits and possible pitfalls of each method.
Deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux from your cloud provider’s console: We will discuss the options and technologies at your disposal if you decide to deploy Red Hat Enterprise Linux using the images that your cloud provider supplies.
Building and deploying your own custom images: If you require deeper customization, we will get hands-on with custom image builds using image builder and other tools that allow you to customize your images before deployment. We will also discuss how to deploy those images on your cloud provider.
Managing and monitoring Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the cloud with Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Insights and automation: How do you manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux once you are up and running in the public cloud? We’ll take a look at the management and monitoring tools included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, even in the cloud. We’ll also talk about how to subscribe your systems while avoiding unnecessary subscription costs, and other management and automation options to consider.
