For over a decade, hardware has been abstracted away, first by virtualization and then by the cloud. The approach has been that all workloads are the same from a hardware perspective. AI has brought the importance of hardware back, front, and center. AI models require powerful, scarce, and expensive computing resources, notably graphics processing units (GPU). Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) has been maximizing hardware resources since 2002. RHEL has set the standard for stability, reliability, and innovation in Linux.
