Who is this workshop best for?

This workshop is intended as an introductory course for Ansible Network Automation.  For more in-depth training please refer to Red Hat Training Ansible for Network Automation.  The intended audience is someone who has limited or no exposure to writing Ansible Playbooks or using Ansible Automation.  This workshop will cover common network scenarios and topics and is best suited for network engineers or folks interested in network automation.

Description

The Ansible Network Automation Workshop is a one-day, hands-on workshop covering both Ansible and Ansible Tower. Attendees will learn how to use Ansible to automate network operations, and acquire the skills needed to implement Ansible and Ansible Tower at their organizations.

Note: In this workshop, attendees will be managing network devices, such as Cisco routers.

  • Explore the lab environment

1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
AFTERNOON SESSIONS
  • Using Ansible to update router configurations
  • Backing up the router configuration 
  • Using Ansible to restore the backed up configuration 
  • An introduction to templating with Jinja2
  • Building dynamic documentation using the command parser

Red Hat Ansible Engine

  • Basic understanding of what Ansible is and how it works with networking devices
  • Running ad-hoc Ansible commands from a command line
  • Building and execution of playbooks to accomplish basic router connectivity

Who Can Benefit

This workshop is geared toward network operators, network engineers, cloud administrators, DevOps engineers, security professionals and anyone interested in network automation.

Requirements for Attendees

  • An internet connection is required. Attendees must come with a laptop with admin rights and the ability to SSH to a lab environment hosted in a public cloud.
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of using SSH and command line shell (BASH) as well as a conceptual understanding of linux system administration (how to use simple commands like cd, ls, mv, mkdir, etc).
  • Attendees should have working knowledge of at least one Linux text editor (nano, pico, vi/vim, zile, emacs) with which to write Ansible playbooks.

  • There are free, non-metered parking slots located on Molton St.
  • $5 All Day lot directly next to 41 Commerce St.
  • The red meters on Commerce St. are 30 mins max. Black meters do not allow you to refill over 2hrs at a time
  • Free parking at 235 Lee Street, formerly Alabama Gas Company (Alagasco). Note: Please be aware that parking may be temporarily unavailable due to construction at this location
    Use caution and enter through the car tunnel (single car pass only). After parking, proceed back through the driveway tunnel. Immediately across the street you will see the Chamber of Commerce Parking Garage. Proceed through the parking garage, through the courtyard to arrive at the back door to MGMWERX. Note: The burgundy parking garage “Chamber of Commerce parking facility” is permit only.
