Keynote: Powering transformation with automation and the open innovation model

Dave Bertin, Director, Global Product Sales

This talk will delve into the transformative potential of Ansible Automation Platform’s open innovation model and how it can be effectively leveraged by organizations to own and accelerate their innovation. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating internal capabilities by scaling existing people and investments, accelerating innovation and ensuring that your organization remains at the forefront of digital transformation.

Code, community & collaboration

Craig Mitchell – Site Reliability Engineering Manager, Navy Federal Credit Union
Brian Ong – Sr Principal Engineer, SRE, Navy Federal Credit Union
Louis Roggo – Support Lead, SRE, Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has been working to adopt IT automation using the Ansible Automation Platform as the enterprise standard.  Initial attempts to instill Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices were met with resistance, until adopting a community driven approach started to turn the tide. By nurturing a collaborative ecosystem, not only did the organization manage to dispel myths around IaC but also created a thriving culture that now enthusiastically embraces automation.

Ensuring the reliability of tactical weapon systems with Ansible

Lee Armbuster, Automation Sales Specialist, Red Hat
Jonathon Wells, Senior Account Solution Architect

In this session, we will discuss how using Ansible Automation Platform’s Event-Driven Automation (EDA) and Configuration as Code (CaC) capabilities can boost the reliability of tactical systems. We will show you the benefits of using Ansible content to codify configurations and then how that content can be proactively used to respond to down systems, cybersecurity incidents, and configuration management issues. You will understand how key AAP capabilities for reliability can be applied to tactical systems and how the same capabilities easily translate to traditional enterprise IT infrastructures.

11:15 AM – 11:45 AM ET
Beyond the basics: Deploy an always on Microsoft SQL server

Dale Lemons, Senior Specialist Solution Architect, Ansible

In this session, learn how you can easily configure and maintain an Always On MS SQL deployment, using example code. We'll see how the challenges of consistently deploying important configuration such as Windows Firewall changes, directory shares for quorum establishment, failover clustering, and configuring Always On availability groups, can be implemented safely in a way that can be leveraged by someone without all of the domain expertise necessary to perform those tasks manually.

Partner Panel: Digital transformation for internal IT operations

Bob Longmore, Technical Solutions Architect, Global Solutions & Architecture, WWT
Nick Arnold, Advisory Solution Manager II, Deloitte & Touche LLP
Jon Hartman, Cisco Meraki Consulting Sales Engineer, Cisco

What does digital transformation mean to internal customers? What does an internal IT team do when they receive requests from the business to stand up/teardown/upgrade/troubleshoot any service they offer? How much of this work is accomplished manually vs through automation? How are IT leaders addressing workforce and hiring challenges in the public sector? Oftentimes network operations are the last bastion when it comes to adopting devops practices such as infrastructure as code - what practices should the teams be adopting in order to address this? Finally, open source can be a double edged sword. Without governance, OSS can be a significant attack vector for bad actors. How do we address that?

1:15 PM – 1:45 PM ET
Continuous Network Compliance (compliance-as-code): How organizations should leverage event-driven Ansible (EDA)
to respond to changing configurations and compliance in real time.

Tony Dubiel, Associate Principal Specialist Solution Architect, Ansible - Red Hat

Network compliance has never been more important due to the high cost of downtime and the need to stay ahead of security risks. In this session you can expect to see a methodology to which we can evolve network compliance, and reduce risks more dynamically. This topic is relevant for decision makers and operators responsible for security and network operations.

Improving security compliance and cyber readiness across the Air Force

Mike Conigliaro, Automation Sales Specialist, Red Hat

This talk delves into the key aspects of enhancing continuous compliance capabilities through Ansible automation. The session will explore key principles of cyber operational readiness, emphasizing the need for efficient, consistent, and scalable responses to cyber threats. Through leveraging Ansible Automation Platform, organizations can securely automate critical tasks such as STIG deployment, patch management, and incident responses, significantly reducing the time and effort required for these operations, all while removing the human error involved with the manual process of system configuration. We will highlight the integration of Ansible Automation with other security tools, showcasing its ability to orchestrate complex workflows and improve overall security posture within the enterprise.

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM ET
Secure self-service Windows management with ServiceNow and Ansible Automation Platform

Sebastian Dunne, Principal Specialist Solution Architect, Ansible

ServiceNow is a popular IT Service Management (ITSM) platform and offers the ideal place to gather requests for IT services, like routine management and maintenance tasks for Windows servers. And, of course, the Ansible Automaton Platform (AAP) is the ideal solution for automating those tasks. We’ll learn about the multiple ways that AAP and ServiceNow can be integrated and the pros and cons of those approaches, including the security and IT policy implications.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM ET
It takes a village

Todd Ruch, Senior Specialist Solution Architect, Ansible

Integrations make all the difference when it comes to systems availability.  Platforms (at least the good ones) tend to specialize in a specific area of expertise that solves a problem for customers. Those platforms don’t work in a vacuum however, and need to work together to achieve outcomes. Ansible Automation platform, with its significant number of out of the box integrations, and ability to easily add functionality, can be the key to bringing these platforms together to achieve outcomes for your organization.

This talk will include a demo that goes across Dynatrace, AAP, and ServiceNow to provide an example of using multiple platforms to achieve an outcome.

3:30 PM – 4:00 PM ET
Automating OpenShift Virtualization with the Ansible Automation Platform

Raed Soliman, Principal Specialist Solution Architect, Red Hat

Learn how leveraging the Ansible Automation Platform with OpenShift® Virtualization allows for consistent provisioning across your environment. It opens a path to modernization by bringing modern application development principles to VMs and enables teams to run VMS consistently across on-premises, edge and supported cloud environments.
