MAD Roadshow - Manchester

July 9, 2024 | 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM, HPE Manchester, 7th Floor, No 1 Circle Square, Symphony Park, Oxford Road, Manchester, M1 7FS, United Kingdom

OVERVIEW

Modern Application Development Roadshow

Developing and modernising applications with Red Hat OpenShift

About event
The morning session of the OpenShift Roadshow will lead attendees through the business benefits of the Red Hat OpenShift platform, from containerising workloads, running VMs, through how to run and govern new AI workloads. Covering the ability to manage exactly where those workloads will run and the efficiency and security gains from using a single standard environment.

We will explore how OpenShift delivers an improved developer experience with Developer Hub, the ease of integration with CI/CD, toolchains and how true GitOPs etc. can be achieved, then onto how to manage clusters across a true open hybrid environment.

We will be joined by our colleagues from HPE. They will provide examples of where they have used OpenShift as part of a solution for a client and also how they support OpenShift in an open hybrid environment.

During the second half of the roadshow attendees will have the opportunity to get hands-on with OpenShift and choose between the following tracks:

Developer track
Introduction to how to assess and analyse an application for modernisation, learn how to refactor and deploy a modernised application on OpenShift and see how to implement CI/CD for an application on OpenShift.

Management and Security track
Learn the fundamentals of operating OpenShift clusters: Application Storage, Application Networking, Authentication. Find out how to discover security vulnerabilities across multi-cluster deployments, enforcing security policies and how to deploy and manage multiple Kubernetes clusters with advanced cluster management

Know before you go
Infrastructure- and operations-focused participants should have knowledge of systems administration, storage, and operations with these suggested tools or skills:
  • Competency on the LinuxⓇ command line
  • A general understanding of Linux containers (e.g., Docker, CRI-O, etc.)
  • A general understanding of authentication (e.g., LDAP/AD).
Application and developer focused participants are expected to be familiar with general application development concepts and have basic skills in these areas:
  • Java programming
  • Apache Maven build tool
