IN-PERSON EVENT

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Skills Workshop + RHUG

March 7, 2024 | 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM ET | McKenzie Brew House

OVERVIEW

Eager to learn how to deploy, manage, and innovate on a platform that will meet your needs today and scale for the future? Join Red Hat® for a hands-on technical workshop paired with a Red Hat User Group (RHUG) and learn about all things Red Hat Enterprise Linux® (RHEL).

Workshop
During this session, attendees will learn about two, of the many, security-related features included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Terminal Session Recording and System-wide Cryptography Policy.  Both of these features were introduced in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and offer new capabilities to system administrators for auditing and configuring the encryption ciphers offered to applications running on the machine.

Topics:

  • Configuring terminal session recording
  • Configuring the system-wide cryptographic policy

RHUG
During this portion of the event, attendees will dive into Exploring Containerization with Podman: Efficient Management and Creation.

This Philadelphia Red® Hat User Group (RHUG) will explore how containerization has revolutionized the way modern applications are developed, deployed, and managed. Using Podman, a lightweight container engine for Linux, users get a robust and flexible solution for container management without requiring a central daemon. Please join us as we delve into various Podman topics, including:

  • Managing containers
  • Shell access for containers
  • Rootless containers
  • Image maintenance with registries
  • Podification of containers to run together
  • Deployment to Kubernetes
  • Podman Desktop - the GUI that makes it easy to install and work with Podman!

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is ideal for developers, system administrators, and architects with a technical background interested in learning how the tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux enable faster delivery of workloads, with less effort.

Lab materials will be provided.

Attendees should have a basic understanding of working with Linux systems and must have a laptop with Chrome 73+, Firefox 60+, Edge 40+, or Safari 12+ installed. There is no student prep work required prior to the workshop.
