Windows automation with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform workshop

February 21, 2024 | 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (GMT-04:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

OVERVIEW

Who is this workshop best for?

This workshop guides you through configuring Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform automation controller to connect to Windows Server instances for automating various operational tasks. Once Ansible Automation Platform automation controller is configured, you’ll start automating simple tasks, and then progress to more advanced use cases such as patching and using third-party solutions to enhance automation (Chocolatey). There are minimal client requirements to interact with the workshop—you only need a compatible web browser. This workshop has minimal requirements for Linux® knowledge and other command line tools.

Who Can Benefit?

This workshop is designed for windows administrators, cloud administrators, DevOps engineers, security professionals, and anyone interested in windows automation.

What we will cover in this workshop:

  • Introduction to Ansible automation
  • How Ansible works for Windows automation
  • Understanding Ansible modules and playbooks
  • Using Ansible Tower to scale automation to the enterprise
  • Reusing automation with Ansible Roles

Requirements for attendees:

  • Attendees must come with a laptop with administrative privileges and the ability to connect with a browser to a lab hosted in a public cloud environment. We recommend Chrome or Firefox, but other browsers should work, as well.
  • Attendees should have a working knowledge of using the Linux command-line shell (BASH) as well as a conceptual understanding of Linux system administration (e.g., how to use simple commands like cd, ls, mv, mkdir, etc).
  • Attendees should have a working knowledge of at least one Linux text editor (e.g., vi/vim, nano, pico, emacs) to write Ansible playbooks, though most of our labs now include the VSCode IDE for writing playbooks.
